Liven Up Your Daughter’s Room
Wracking your brains over the perfect gift for your teenaged daughter? Does she already have too many clothes, shoes, accessories, and everything else you can think of? Why not gift her a new room? It would be the most pleasant surprise for your daughter to walk into a brand new room that has everything she could wish for. Here a few tips that will help you create just the right look.
- Begin by assessing her personality. Make a list of all the things she really likes. To create the room your daughter will love, you need to know what she values most, and accordingly you can go about with the decorations.
- Decide on the room color. A lot of girls like pink so this might be a safe color for the bedroom. However, try to find out her favorite color and paint the room in shades of that hue. If she is the adventurous, gregarious kind, she would probably love bright colors like neon pink or orange or blue. Bright red and yellow also make the room more attractive. However, if she is the shy, withdrawn kind, it would be advisable to paint the room in neutral shades like beige or white or mauve.
- Your daughter is likely to spend a lot of time in her bedroom, so try to provide the objects that will increase the comfort level inside the room. The bed is the focal point here, followed closely by chairs and rugs. Have a comfortable bed with a comforter, pillows and blankets that are color coordinated with the rest of the room. Ideally, the bed sheets should complement the blanket so as to break the monotony of a single color. Contrasting color schemes can make for a funkier look, and this will certainly go down well with your teenaged daughter. You can also throw in a couple of beanbags and rugs in bright colors. Not only are they going to give the room a great facelift, but will also make it more warm and snug.
- Window add-ons can create an interesting look. Trade the drab colors and textures for a bright, spunkier look. You can mix and match some exciting colors like dark green, pink or even red on fabrics like corduroy for the window curtains. This creates the space for a lot of imagination, and you can try out different accessories with these curtains.
- The walls are the ideal places to experiment with some eye-catching home décor ideas. You can put up some rare posters of daughter’s favorite movie or sports stars, or musicians. Interestingly shaped mirrors and clocks can be great embellishments for jazzing up the room. You can also put pictures in cool deco art frames and hang them on the walls.
